Supporting Families: Identifying and Discussing Developmental Concerns with Sensitivity

Course Description:
In your role as an early childhood educator or service leader, from time to time, you or your team may have concerns about a child’s development or behaviour. You may feel unsure about how to raise these concerns with the child’s family. This course provides practical suggestions about how to have sensitive conversations with parents or carers regarding developmental or behavioural concerns. You will be guided through how to collect observations to help identify potential developmental or behavioural concerns and how to prepare for having sensitive discussions with parents or carers about these concerns. Importantly, you will plan to work in partnership with the child’s family to continue supporting the child’s learning and development.
