Course Description:

In this course, you will be guided through collecting data and other observations to assist you in planning for the inclusion of children with disability or delays within your early childhood service and in documenting the progress of these children towards objectives and learning outcomes. An overview of different types of observations and their purposes, including the documentation of reasonable adjustments made for children with disability, will be provided. Case studies will demonstrate how different types of data collection can be used to inform planning and track progress.

By the end of the course, you will have the knowledge to:

  • record objective observations to support conversations with families about their child's development.
  • record observations that demonstrate the level of educational supports required.
  • collect data and observations that demonstrate children’s progress.
  • document reasonable adjustments made to assist children with disability to participate in education and care on the same basis as children without disability.
